In 2019, while visiting his daughter studying abroad in Belgium, John Benchimol booked a houseboat Airbnb and everything changed. A lifelong marina owner and boater, John was instantly drawn to the peaceful setting, panoramic views, and surprisingly comfortable layout. “Why don’t we have anything like this in the U.S.?”  he wondered.

That question sparked the beginning of Waterlodge.

Today, Waterlodge Houseboats are redefining what it means to live on the water, offering modern, mobile, and design-forward houseboats with lasting value and everyday comfort.

Unlike floating homes or static house barges, Waterlodges are true houseboats: registered, powered, and mobile vessels that allow you to move from one destination to the next. Spend a season in one city, then cruise to another. Reposition with the weather, or chase the views. It’s boating freedom, with the all the comforts of home.

But what truly sets Waterlodge apart isn’t just the mobility, it’s the construction quality. Every Waterlodge is manufactured by La Mare Houseboats, a trusted European builder with over 15 years of experience and more than 600 houseboats delivered across 12+ countries. Their factory in Poland—widely regarded as the boatbuilding capital of the world—blends precision engineering with high-quality materials.

Each Waterlodge model is built to CE-certified standards and designed for long-term performance using premium, marine-grade components:

• Heavy-duty HDPE pontoons—foam-filled, robust, and virtually maintenance-free

• Galvanized steel catamaran frame—designed for strength, stability, and longevity

• Water-resistant multi-bonded marine wood—far superior to vinyl-wrapped plywood

•  Double-glazed windows & upgraded insulation—for quiet, energy-efficient, all-season use

• High-finish cabinetry, fixtures, and Scandinavian-inspired interiors
